This month's Dana Point Harbor Oversight Advisory Committee (DPHOAC) meeting commenced with an update from Tyler Mosher, representing Supervisor Foley's office. There was positive news regarding the replenishment of the Capistrano and Doheny Beach shorelines. Mr. Mosher advised that 20,000 cubic yards of sand would be trucked in from the Santa Ana River to bolster these popular stretches of coastline.
Christian Gagne, the Dana Point Harbor Oversight Manager for the County of Orange, presented a powerpoint presentation summarizing the community inquiries regarding the DPHP slip rate increase. These questions, compiled from DPH Oversight email submissions (DPHOversight@ocgov.com), phone calls, and letters, were further supplemented by those raised from the Supervisor’s June 21st Coffee Chat. The complete presentation can be found at the link below.
Following Mr. Gagne's presentation, the committee was informed about a forthcoming meeting with Kelly Rinderknecht of Dana Point Harbor Partners and representatives from the County's CEO Real Estate team. This meeting scheduled for the week of July 15th, will provide a platform to address the community's concerns and explore additional pertinent topics.
Mr. Gagne also announced the upcoming addition of a "resources" section to OAC portion of the Fifth District webpage, offering easy access to past presentations and committee resources. He also highlighted a new section showcasing construction progress photos/aerials and the availability of the latest DPHP quarterly reports online.
The meeting further covered updates on the space planning study for the Orange County Sailing and Event Center, a report on the Fourth of July weekend operations by the OC Parks Department, and discussions on security concerns near Dana Point Yacht Club and the marina island areas raised by the committee members. The meeting concluded with CEO Real Estate to addressing boater concerns regarding marina slip layout and the construction and the relocation efforts of the Dana Point Outrigger Club.
