Supervisor Katrina Foley Responds to Tentative Agreement on OC ACCESS Strike

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley released a statement following the news that OC Access Drivers, represented by Teamsters Local 952, voted to accept an offer from their employer First Transit/Transdev to end the OC ACCESS strike. OC ACCESS service will resume on Monday.

“Today, Transdev and Teamsters came to a tentative labor agreement to end the ongoing OC ACCESS strike,” said Supervisor Foley. “I’m grateful that the parties resolved this matter. OC ACCESS drivers provide a critical service for our disabled and elderly residents in need of public transportation. Their compensation and rights must reflect the value they provide to our community.”

With the announced end to the strike, Same-Day Taxi service and OC ACCESS subscription service will resume, as well as full service for OC Flex, OCTA’s on-demand micro-transit service operating in Laguna Niguel, Mission Viejo and Aliso Viejo.

OC ACCESS is a shared ride service for residents with physical or cognitive limitations that cannot use regular public transportation. First Transit merged with Trans Dev and is under contract to provide the service. They have been in negotiations with Teamster Local 952, the union representing drivers, since their labor contract expired at the end of 2022.

Members of Teamsters Local 952 ratified the agreement, which now must be voted on by the OCTA Board of Directors.
