Supervisor Katrina Foley Releases Update Following Sewage Spill in Newport Beach

ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley released a statement following news that 140 gallons of raw sewage spilled in Newport Beach on July 30, 2023, resulting in a portion of the bay’s closure near the Aloha Drive/Linda Island bridge. At the time of the release, the OC Health Care Agency (HCA) reduced the bay closure area to 500 feet upcoast of the Aloha Drive Bridge.

Orange Supervisor Katrina Foley Announces Litigation by County of Orange Against Chevron Corporation

ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — Today, Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley announced that the Board of Supervisors unanimously authorized the County of Orange to initiate litigation against Chevron Corporation to recover cleanup costs related to an October 2022 oil leak from an improperly-abandoned Chevron oil pipeline buried beneath the Talbert Channel in Huntington Beach.

Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley Announces Rail Service Finally Resumes in San Clemente

ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — Today, Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley, who serves as a Director of the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA), announced today that Metrolink and Amtrak passenger rail service through San Clemente will resume beginning Monday, July 17, 2023. This follows the completion of the emergency soldier pile wall over the tracks beneath Casa Romantica to provide protection from falling debris.

One-Stop Shop Connects South County Residents to County Resources

ORANGE COUNTY, CA - Today, Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley held the grand opening of the County One-Stop in Laguna Niguel in partnership with OC Workforce Solutions, OC Community Services, Ready Set OC, America’s Job Center of California, and the Veterans Employment Program. The one stop’s doors officially open to the public on July 5, 2023.

ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA – Today, Orange County Supervisor Katrina Foley, Fifth District, and Supervisor Vicente Sarmiento, Second District held a roundtable discussion with LGBTQ+ leaders which culminated in the unfurling of the Pride Flag at the Old Orange County Courthouse.

06/16/2023: Dana Point Harbor Advisory Oversight Committee


My Dana Point Harbor Advisory oversight committee will inform my office’s approach to this project and will ensure that businesses, county staff, and the community have a voice in the process. Our selection process continues this week with the oversight committee members announced this month. One of the first tasks of the new Dana Point Harbor Oversight Committee, which starts in July, is to review a few options related to fees and storage and provide me with recommendations. I expect a report back by September.

05/19/2023: Marina Improvement Project Update


The Building Official has issued the Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) for Phase 2 of the Marina Improvement Project. This means the docks are ready for occupants and the Marina team can start the process of moving tenants into these new slips. The Phase 2 docks include three West Basin Docks: W9, W8, and W7.

In addition, DPHP has commenced work on Phase 4 of the Marina Improvement Project. Phase 4 is located in the East Basin, next to Island Way and includes ADA docks (See below). This phase includes improvements totaling almost $8 million.

The committee will consist of a large and small merchant, a boater or boater representative, and 2 members of the public. Ad hoc committee members will include the Mayor of Dana Point, Dana Point Harbor Partners, CEO Real Estate, representatives from public safety & the Ocean Institute. Apply here!
